'No anti-incumbent wave against UDF': R B Pillai Friday, April 7 2006 15:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Thiruvananthapuram:
Claiming that political climate was changing in favour of the ruling UDF in state, Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai today (Apr 07, 2006) said there was no anti-incumbent wave against the UDF government.
UDF government's achievements were more than 90 per cent and government was able to address the problems of weaker sections of the society, particularly farmers, Pillai said at the 'Janavidhi-2006' programme organised by Kesari Memorial Journalists Trust here.
Prices of cash crops increased due to the policies pursued by the state and central governments. To help paddy cultivators, the government procured all paddy produced in the state, he added.
To a question, he said Front partners took the initiative to have tie-up with Karunakaran's DIC to avoid the split of the UDF's votes and strengthen democratic forces.
Admitting that relevance of small parties like Kerala Congress (B) in Kerala politics was over, he said his party would think of merger with a mainstream political party after the assembly elections.
