BJP considering two-three names for Rae Bareli Saturday, April 8 2006 15:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Rourkela:
BJP is considering two-three names to contest against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in
Rae Bareli Lok Sabha bypoll, party chief Rajnath Singh said here today (Apr 8, 2006).
He said talks were on to select the candidate for the bypoll in the Lok Sabha constituency and the state unit of the party will take a decision.
"At the moment, two-three names are under consideration," Singh sources.
Asked about Gandhi's resignation, Singh said, "There was nothing so great about it. She quit because she realized that she had to go on the office of profit issue. She resigned to save herself from embarassment."
The bypolls in Rae Bareli are scheduled to be held on May eight.
Gandhi had resigned from Lok Sabha and as chairperson of the National Advisory Council last month in the wake of the office of profit controversy.
