Prez Kalam greets the nation on Naba Barsh, Vishu

New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam today (Apr 14, 2006) greeted the people on the occasion of Naba Barsh, Puthandu Pirappu, Rangoli Bihu and Vishu celebrated in different parts of the country as New Year.

"On the auspicious occasion of Naba Barsh, Puthandu Pirappu, Rangoli Bihu and Vishu, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens," Kalam said in a message.

"These festivals celebrated in different parts of the country herald the New Year and denote the underlying unity of our rich and diverse culture and strengthen the pluralistic heritage of our rich and diverse culture," he said.

"Let us on these joyous occasions resolve to strengthen our mutual understanding, peace and happiness in the years to come and work for the well-being of all our people," the President added.
