London: NRI industrialist Lord Swaraj Paul and his wife Lady Aruna Paul have acquired the Overseas Citizenship of India.

"I am happy the Government of India has finally decided to sanction the dual citizenship. Not that I am more Indian now than I have always been, but it is a very nice gesture on the part of the Indian government," Lord Paul said last night (Apr 13. 2006).

A spokesman of the Indian High Commission said Lord Paul was among the prominent people who have been given the Overseas Citizenship of India.

He said the High Commission here was one of the four missions in the world which had handled the largest number of applications for dual citizenship since January 9 this year.
