BJP workers stall screening of Aamir Khan's films
Saturday, April 15 2006 14:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Ahmedabad: Angered by Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's comments in support of social activist Medha Patkar who is opposing raising of Narmada dam's height, BJP workers today (Apr 15, 2006) stalled screening of the actor's film at cinema halls in the city.

BJP party workers led by local BJP MLAs today pulled down the posters of `Rang De Basanti', Aamir Khan's latest flick and stalled the screening of the film in a city multiplex.

The partymen shouted slogans against the actor and said they will also prevent the actor's forthcoming film `Fanaa' from being screened in the city cinema halls.

A local BJP leader while talking to mediapersons, asked the Bollywood actor to first set his house in order by thinking about his former wife and children instead of worrying about those displaced by building of Sardar Sarovar Dam.

The party workers also vented their anger on another film personality Rahul Bose, who has also come out to support the Medha Patkar-led Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA).

They also thereatened to stall all future films of Bose.

Yesterday, members of the Congress party, which is also supporting the building of the Narmada dam, stalled the screening of `Rang De Basanti' in a Vadodara city theatre.

Earlier, NGOs and business organisations in Gujarat have also threatened to launch an agitation if the work on the Narmada Dam is stalled.
