The Centre is keeping a 'close watch' on the situation in the wake of yesterday's (Apr 14, 2006) twin blasts in Jama Masjid here and ordered beefing up of security in the capital.
These blasts were "attempts of desparate elements to disturb peace and harmony. The Government will foil the designs of the terrorists," said Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who visited the blast site and the LNJP hospital where the injured are admitted.
"The Centre is keeping a close watch on the situation and security has been beefed up," he said adding he was in close touch with Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul and other senior officials. "The situation is under control," he said.
Patil, who is in close touch with Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul and senior officials of his Ministry, appealed to people across the country to maintain peace and calm.
