Jayalalitha files nomination from Andipatti district
Saturday, April 15 2006 14:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Theni: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha today (Apr 15, 2006) filed her nomination papers to contest the May 8 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls from Andipatti constituency.

She submitted her papers to the district Backward Class Welfare Officer at the Collectorate here. This is for the third consecutive time she is seeking mandate from Andipatti, which was once represented by her political mentor M G Ramachandran.

During the last Assembly polls, her papers were rejected from this constituency on the plea that she had filed nominations from more than two constituencies, in violation of electoral rules.

After the Supreme Court acquitted her in the Tansi land case, she won the seat in a by-election in 2002.
