WB: Buddhadeb criticizes Trinamool Cong-BJP pact Saturday, April 15 2006 11:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bankura (WB):
Lashing out at the Trinamool Congress-BJP alliance in West Bengal, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee yesterday (Apr14, 2006) said it is these parties which don the garb of the Maoists by night to discredit the Left Front government in the state.
''The Jharkhand parties are also in this alliance. Why don't they go to Jharkhand? .... We will not allow them to grow as long as we are alive. If needed we will take the help of the police and fight them with guns,'' he said at a public rally at Khatra in Bankura district on the penultimate day of campaigning for the first phase of polling for the state assembly.
Maoist-infested Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapur districts would be the three districts where polls would be held on April 17.
Continuing his tirade against the TC-BJP combine, whose leaders Mamata Banerjee and Arun Jaitley are also campaigning in the district today, he said the alliance is nothing more than 'another face' of the BJP, which has relations with the RSS and caused riots in Gujarat.
Referring to the Bharat Suraksha Yatra by BJP top brass, he apprehended trouble to break out in areas through which it passed as had happened in an earlier rathayatra by L K Advani at Jhalda in Purulia.
