Imam of Jama Masjid demands CBI probe in blasts
Sunday, April 16 2006 10:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid yesterday (Apr 15, 2006) demanded a CBI probe into the twin blasts in the historic mosque and the Sankatmochan temple in Varanasi.

"Only a CBI probe into the blasts at Jama Masjid and Sankatmochan temple would bring to the fore real perpetrators of the heinous acts," Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari told sources

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who visited the mosque this evening, had assured him of a CBI probe.

Bukhari said he made the demand as the investigation into the Varanasi blasts had not made satisfactory progress and a probe by the central agency can help bring the perpetrator of the blasts to the book.
