BJP opposed to untouchability in politics: Advani Tuesday, April 18 2006 16:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kozhikode:
Asserting that his party represented both the majority and minority community, BJP
leader L K Advani today (Apr 18, 2006) said the BJP was against practicing 'untouchability' in politics.
"We don't believe in any kind of political untouchability, but there will be no trading," Advani told reporters here when asked about 'covert adjustments' being made by his party for the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala.
"We welcome adjustments with any party, but that does not mean we engage in trading," he said when asked if the BJP was supporting JD(S) candidates in Wayanad district.
According to Advani, the party had been improving its performance in Kerala with every election.
"We polled over 12 per cent of the total votes in the previous elections and we will certainly open the account this time," he said.
Denying that the BJP was giving votes to either the Congress-led UDF or the CPI(M)-led LDF in the state in every election, Advani said it was proving impossible for a third candidate to emerge winner in the polls since there was sharp polarisation between the two Fronts.
He noted that the BJP was the single largest party in Karnataka and had succeeded in forming a government in the state with the JD(S).
