Left 'communalising' India's foreign policy: Advani
Tuesday, April 18 2006 16:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kozhikode: Accusing the Left parties of 'communalising' India's foreign policy, senior BJP leader L K Advani today (Apr 18, 2006) said the Congress, on the other hand, was engaged in 'communalising' the country's domestic policy.

"If Sonia is genuinely concerned about communalization of India's foreign policy, why is her party relentlessly communalising our domestic policy," he said at a meet-the-press, organised by the Calicut Press Club here.

"Muslims headcount in the Armed Forces, the temptation to push religion-based reservations in state after state, contempt of the Supreme Court by bringing in IMDT through the backdoor in Assam thereby aiding the continuing demographic aggression from Bangladesh and unanimous resolution in the Kerala Assembly for the release of Abdul Nazar Madhani, the prime accused in the Coimbatore bomb blasts are examples in this regard," he said.

Referring to CPI (M) General Secretary, Prakash Karat's interview in the latest issue of a leading news magazine, Advani said Karat had rejected Sonia's charge that Left parties were communalising India's foreign policy, which shows the 'brittleness' of UPA.

"He (Karat) has also commented that Sonia's allegation was failure to justify the Centre's pro-US orientation. Such allegations and counter-allegations between the two principal constituents of the UPA show the extreme brittleness of the ruling alliance at the Centre," he said, adding they also exposed how the leadership of both the Congress and CPI(M) were 'unprincipled' and 'hypocritical' in their respective stands.

"Karat's self-justification on the issue of communalisation of India's foreign policy is both dangerous and disingenuous," he said.
