UDF rule essential for Kerala's development: Sonia
Tuesday, April 18 2006 16:06 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kottayam: Asserting that the UDF's return to power in Kerala was essential for the state's all-round development, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today (Apr 18, 2006) said that unlike the opposition, the ruling coalition was seeking a mandate based on a positive and constructive agenda.

Addressing a election campaign meeting here, she said the UDF alone could ensure social harmony and stability as it had always followed the path of consensus, taking all sections of the people into confidence.

"Only UDF has a positive and constructive agenda for the continued growth and development of the state," she said.

Lauding the state government's achievements under Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Gandhi asked the people of Kerala to give a fresh mandate to the coalition as much more remained to be done in the state.
