Nagpur: 1 constable killed, 15 hurt in naxal attack

Nagpur: A constable was killed and 15 policemen injured, three of them seriously, in a landmine blast triggered by naxals in Gadchiroli district, about 250 kms from here, today (Apr 19, 2006).

The naxalites targeted the police vehicle carrying 17 personnel at Phulbondi in the southern part of Vidharbha, killing constable Devendra Raspekar on the spot and injuring 15 others. The condition of Sub-Inspector Harish Madavi and two constables was serious and they were being treated at the Government Medical College Hospital in the city, police said.

Other policemen received minor injuries and were being treated at Gadchiroli, they said.
