Advocating a cautious approach towards trouble-torn Nepal, the BJP today (Apr 21, 2006) said India's role should be confined to restoring normalcy in the Himalayan kingdom.
"We should ensure that the Nepal Maoists' links with Naxalite outfits here will not further complicate the internal security problems," he told reporters here on the 12th day ofhis Bharat Suraksha Yatra.
Denying that his party was supportive of the King's rule in Nepal, he said, "Democracy and constitutional monarchy are the essential pillars of that country".
The Leader of the Opposition voiced concern over the links between Nepal Maoists and their Indian counterparts and their plans to set up 'Red Corridor' running through several parts of the country.
He also charged the UPA government with adopting soft approach towards Maoists in Nepal.
