Babri Masjid issue was result of mass outrage: BJP
Friday, April 21 2006 10:43 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Outrightly rejecting as a poll eve gimmick the Government's submission before the Liberhan Commission about its role in the Ayodhya demolition, BJP yesterday (Apr 20, 2006) attributed the incident to the mass outrage against the appeasement and pseudo-secular policies of the Congress party.

"The UPA Government's submission to the Liberhan Commission about Ayodhya is a politically motivated drama, deliberately enacted on the eve of the election", party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here adding it has been filed 23 days after the closing of the arguments.

Fourteen years have lapsed and neither any concrete evidence of conspiracy has come forward nor there is any revelations. By submitting such a baseless, legally untenable and factually far away from truth report, the Government is making a farce of the whole episode, he said.

"Charging the UPA Government with resorting to such election eve gimmicks in the past", he said during the Bihar Assembly elections last year, the Government had tabled the U C Banerjee Committee Interim Report on Godhra.

He recalled that the NDA Government had earlier submitted a detailed report with the Commission which clearly stated that the destruction of the disputed structure was the fallout of "Instant mass outrage against the appeasement and pseudo secular policies of the Congress Government. People were giving vent to their anger".

The alleged questioning of then CBI Director U S Mishra for not filing an appeal against L K Advani in the Ayodhya case was another example of UPA Government's attempt to influence the Ayodhya issue, he said adding BJP and its leaders will file their reply to the Commission.
