'Open borders with Nepal are liable for ISI influx'
Friday, April 21 2006 12:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Lucknow: Claiming that open borders with Nepal were responsible for the influx of ISI agents into Uttar Pradesh, BJP today (Apr 21, 2006) asked the Centre and state governments to 'demolish' the network and take the UN Security Council into confidence for keeping the Pakistani agency under international watch.

"A direct action is needed to demolish the network of the ISI in the state or else social harmony and amity could be disturbed," BJP President Rajnath Singh told reporters here today (Apr 21, 2006).

"The Uttar Pradesh police chief had said recently that ISI has established its network in the western and eastern regions of the state," Singh, whose Bharat Surksha Yatra arrived in the state capital late last night, claimed.

Singh said that India's borders with Nepal were open and hence it was easy for any one to get into the country from the other side.

The Centre should take the UNSC members into confidence in putting the ISI under the international watch, the BJP President said.

"The recent terror attacks on centres of faith had disturbed the society and there must not be any delay in taking a direct action," he said.

"There is no doubt that there is a nexus between the ISI and the Maoists of Nepal," he claimed adding that even the Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee had said that the naxal and terrorist outfits had been getting international help.
