'Steps towards restoration of democracy in Nepal'

New Delhi: Hinting at the success of his visit to Nepal, Special Envoy Karan Singh today (Apr 21, 2006) said a major step towards restoration of democracy was likely in theHimalayan Kingdom.

Emerging after a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during which he briefed him about his trip, he told reporters, "It is our hope and expectation that perhaps by the end of the day some major announcement will be made.

"We are hoping that there will be some major step towards reinstating democracy, " he said.
