Saturday, April 22 2006 14:09 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Pravin, who allegedly shot at his brother and senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, is likely to be produced before a Magistrate later today, police said.

"Once we have finished recording his statement, we will produce him before the Magistrate," Joint Commissioner of Police Arup Patnaik told reporters here.

"The incident took place around 7.30 am, when the accused came to Mahajan's residence at Worli in central Mumbai and spoke to him for about 15 minutes before allegedly shooting him with a small revolver that he had brought with him," Patnaik said.

The accused has claimed that he has the licence for the weapon and police are verifying his claims and documents.

Patnaik had also visited Hinduja Hospital, where Mahajan was admitted, to review security and traffic arrangements as senior political leaders including L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushama Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu are expected to visit him in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, BJP has asked its volunteers to move away from the hospital area.

After Mahajan was attacked, his brother-in-law Gopinath Munde, who stays at a nearby building in Worli area, brought him to the hospital, BJP sources told.
