'Probe into disappearance of Meerut fire victim'

Meerut: The Uttar Pradesh Commission for Women today (Apr 23, 2006) demanded a probe into the disappearance of a woman victim of the April 10 fire tragedy here from a local nursing home.

Commission member Ashok Pandey, who visited Victoria Park Ground here where the tragedy occured, also met the husband of Vandana Giridhar, who disappeared from Sushila Jaswant Rai hospital here after being admitted on the day of the mishap.

Demanding a probe into the incident by the district administration, Pandey said the Commission will also investigate the matter and submit its report to the Chief Minister.

More than 50 persons were killed and over 100 injured in the fire mishap at the venue of a consumer fair here on April 10.
