Kathmandu: Nepal's Royal Government imposed a curfew for the sixth consecutive day today (Apr 24, 2006) as political parties intensified their anti-King demonstrations aimed at restoring total democracy in the Kingdom.

Curfew has been re-imposed in the capital from 11 AM to 6 PM, shortening the time by four hours as compared to yesterday, officials said.

The Seven-Party Alliance spearheading the campaign for restoration of democracy is preparing for a massive showdown around the Ring Road of Kathmandu tomorrow with the participation of its top leaders.

The rally is expected to be attended by more than 1.5 million people and the top leaders will lead the peaceful demonstration to exert pressure on the King to accept the roadmap of the alliance, party sources said.

Nepali Congress General Secretary Ramchandra Poudyal and CPN-UML leader Bamdev Gautam addressing a massive gathering at Gongabun yesterday said the movement will not end until full democracy is restored.

The palace has been deceiving the people from time to time, but this time we will not let it deceive, Poudyal said.
