Pramod Mahajan is stable but critical: Doctors
Monday, April 24 2006 10:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The condition of BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan, who underwent a two-hour surgery last evening after his vital parameters became unstable, was 'stable but critical', hospital sources said today (Apr 24, 2006).

Mahajan, being treated at Hinduja Hospital here since shot at and critically wounded by his brother Praveen, is still on life support system in the Intensive Care Unit and the three bullets were yet to be removed from the body, the sources said.

After the surgery, performed by a team of doctors to deal with internal abdomen pressure, there was 'improvement' in vital parameters. Stevan Dean, an Ortho Trauma Specialist from Australia, late last night visited Hinduja Hospital and offered his advice on Mahajan's condition, the sources said.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussein, who visited the hospital this morning, said he hoped that Mahajan would soon recover as the crucial 48 hours have passed safely. "Mahajan is responding to treatment and I am leaving with full confidence that he will recover. His family also looks relieved and doctors also say that his condition has improved," he added.
