Militants hurl grenade at polling booth in J&K
Monday, April 24 2006 11:59 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Baramulla: Militants today (Apr 24, 2006) hurled a grenade at a polling booth at Palhalan in Pattan Assembly constituency of Jammu and Kashmir but no one was injured in the attack, official sources said here.

"The grenade, apparently thrown to scare away voters who had gathered in large numbers at booth number six, caused no injuries," they said.

The voting at the booth started at around 10 a.m. as the Electronic Voting Machine had developmed some technical snag and was replaced, the sources said.

By-election to Rafiabad, Pattan, Sangrama and Bhaderwah Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir are being held today amidst tight security arrangements.
