CCPA meet cancelled due to changing state in Nepal
Tuesday, April 25 2006 14:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), scheduled to be held today to review the developments in Nepal, has been cancelled in view of the 'changing situation' in the Himalayan Kindgom, official sources said.

The meeting, which was to be chaired by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee to take stock of the fast-evolving situation, was put off following King Gyanendra's announcement late last night to revive Parliament, meeting a key demand of the seven-party alliance there.

The Defence Minister, who is deputising for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh now on a visit to Germany, will be meeting top officials including those from the Armed Forces today to review the developments in the neighbouring country.

India has voiced happiness over the Nepal King's announcement to revive Parliament.
