Overcome recent instability in Government: Advani Thursday, April 27 2006 15:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bhopal:
Asking partymen to overcome recent instability in organisation and government in Madhya Pradesh, BJP stalwart L K Advani today (Apr 27, 2006) said the focus should be on good governance and development.
"I urge them (BJP leaders), and also all workers in the party organisation, to quickly overcome recent instability in the party and the government," Advani told reporters here on the 16th day of his Bharat Suraksha Yatra.
When asked to elaborate, the former BJP President said his observation was in reference to the events that took place during the recent leadership change in Madhya Pradesh, where party's strength lies in its organisation.
Maintaining that the credit for the strong organisation went to late Kushabhau Thakre, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabh said BJP's commitment to good governance and development can now be seen in party-ruled states.
Lauding the performance of the party government in the state, Advani said power, roads and water were the principal issues in 2003 assembly elections and since then 117 of the 371 poll promises have been fulfilled.
Claiming that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was monitoring implementation of party's poll manifesto, he said installed capacity of power generation has increased from 4760 mw in 2003-2004 to 6305 mw in 2005-06 and transmission capacity rose from 4417 mw to 5780 mw during the same period.
Similarly, 3700 km of rural roads have been constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and nearly 10,000 km roads built under various other schemes, he said.
