Take fresh look at security of minorities: Duggal Monday, May 1 2006 14:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Concerned over the killing of 22 Hindus in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre today (May 1, 2006)asked the State Government to take a fresh look at the security cover for minorities and made it clear that it would not be cowed by such terror acts aimed at derailing the peace process.
"We have advised the state authorities to review the security measures for the minorities in the state," Home Secretary V K Duggal told reporters here. Emerging from a high-level meeting chaired by Home Minister Shivraj Patil, convened to review the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, he said the gunning down of the Hindus was clearly aimed at derailing the peace process.
"This incident clearly shows the desparation of the terrorists who want to hamper the peace process in the state," Duggal said referring to the scheduled meeting here between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Hurriyat Conference on May 3 and 2nd roundtable conference chaired by the Prime Minister, slated to be held in Srinagar on May 25.
