Medical students of five premier colleges of the capital today held a rally against the Government's proposed move to provide for reservation of seats for backward classes in elite institutions and central universities.
Joined by students of other Delhi colleges as well as schools, over a thousand students gathered at the prestigiousMaulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and marched towards Jantar Mantar.
The students, who have been agitating for nearly a week by boycotting classes to protest the controversial reservation proposal, shouted slogans 'Arjun Singh hai hai' and
'reservation is no solution'.
"Our campaign is growing. We have been joined by students of Delhi University as also students of Classes XI and XII of schools in Delhi," claimed Sujit Shukla of the Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC).
The students also launched a signature campaign, asking people supporting them to sign on a 25-metre-long paper sheet.
The agitating medical students are from MAMC, VMMC, AIIMS, University College of Medical Sciences and Lady Hardinge Medical College.
