Protest march against violence in Sri Lanka
Wednesday, May 3 2006 16:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: More than 120 activists, including Tamil National Movement president Pazha Nedumaran and Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam president Kolathur Mani, courted arrest here today, while attempting to take out a procession against the recent violent incidents in Sri Lanka.

The activists, without prior permission, tried to march to the Sri Lankan consulate, raising slogans against the alleged attack on civilians by the Lankan defence forces, police said.

Those detained would be released on bail later in the evening, police added.
