Reservation protest suspended for 'time being' Wednesday, May 3 2006 17:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
The Bangalore Medical College (BMC) students and junior doctors' protest against increased reservation for OBCs in educational institutions has been suspended for the 'time-being.'
"The boycott and even silent protest wearing black badges has been suspended for the time being as we are awaiting Human Resource Minister Arjun Singh's response to the issue on May 11," Dr Venugopal, President Junior Doctors' Association, BMC
told sources today (May 3, 2006).
The undergraduates are attending their classes while the interns and post-graduate students are working normally, General Secretary of the Association Dr Mohan Chandra said.
Meanwhile, all efforts are being made to garner the support of students of other medical colleges and also engineering colleges in Bangalore for the proposed massive
rally on May 12, Venugopal said.
However, "The decision to hold the rally will depend on Centre's response to the issue on May 11", he said, adding there has been no protest at the district level.
