Friday, May 5 2006 10:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh Director General of Police Amod Kanth has been questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with ramp model Jessica Lall murder case.

Kanth, who was Joint Commissioner (southern range) in 1999 when Jessica was killed in a south Delhi restaurant, was quizzed by the Special Investigation Team at the police headquarters here late last evening, police sources said.

He is the second top ranking officer to be questioned in the case which is being re-investigated after the trial court acquitted all the nine accused, including Manu Sharma, who allegedly shot dead the upcoming model.

Earlier, the SIT had questioned Y S Dadwal, Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, who was present at the time of the incident in Tamarind Court restaurant on the night of April 29, 1999.

Jessica's sister Sabrina had recently charged Kanth of influencing the re-investigation by asking her to request for the same team, involved in the earlier probe, to take up the matter.

Earlier as Joint Commisisoner of Delhi Police in 1999, Kanth headed the investigation which drew lot of criticism from various quarters as it led to the acquittal of all the accused.

The SIT has also questioned Addtional Commissioner (Security) Sudhir Yadav and Chandigarh SSP Vivek Gogia, who were Deputy and Additional Commissioners of Police (south district) respectively when the sensational murder took place.
