SAARC meet to discuss terrorism and drug abuse

New Delhi: Tackling terrorism, controlling drug abuse, measures to check trafficking in women and children and money laundering will be some of the crucial issue to be taken up for discussion at a meeting of SAARC interior and home secretaries starting in Dhaka from Wednesday.

Union Home Secretary V K Duggal alongwith a team of officers will leave for Dhaka tomorrow to attend the meet, an official release said here today.

The meet is also expected to discuss technical cooperation in police matters and training of police personnel of SAARC countries, it said adding measures to Strengthen Existing Offences Monitoring Desk (SDOMD) and Terrorist Offences Monitoring Desk (STOMD) will also be deliberated upon.

An advance team comprising of senior police officers has already left today to attend the police meeting.
