Left to raise office of profit issues in Parliament
Tuesday, May 9 2006 16:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Putting pressure on the ruling UPA coalition they are supporting from outside, Left parties today (May 9, 2006) decided to raise several issues in Parliament especially those concerning the agriculture sector and impoverisation of the peasantry.

The four parties, at their meeting today, also discussed the office of profit issue and asked the government to set up an all-party committee and expand the ambit of the definition to include several offices which MPs and MLAs hold by virtue of being elected.

They also adopted a resolution to ask the government to take a stand on the Palestinian issue, particularly after the Hamas assumed power through the ballot and the US, European Union and Israel cut off all aid to that country, CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan told reporters after the hour-long meeting.
