Congress leading in 28 of 126 assembly seats in Assam

Guwahati: The ruling Congress was leading in 28 while the opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) was ahead in14 of the 126 constituencies in Assam.

The BJP was ahead in three seats, Asam United Democratic Front (AUDF) in four, NCP three, CPM and Autonomous State Demand Committee in two each, while others in 11, according to the available trends.

Prominent among those leading are former two-time chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta (AGP-P) in Bahrampur(87), Bithika Dev (Cong), wife of union minister and party heavyweight Santosh Mohan Dev, was ahead in Silchar (9).

Rabiram Narzary (ind) was leading over Promila Rani Brahma (Ind and sitting MLA) in Kokrajhar East (30).
