Left party to announce Achuthanandan as Kerala CM
Monday, May 15 2006 10:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI-M in Kerala was today (May 15, 2006) expected to announce veteran leader V S Achuthanandan's name for Chief Minister ship after the state committee endorses the polit buro and state secretariat proposals in this regard.

The state committee would also be ratifying the list of party nominees to be included in the ministry, which was drawn up by the secretariat last night.

Achuthanandan's was the only name that came up for consideration for the top post since the PB on Saturday made clear its preference in the matter.

CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat and PB members Sitaram Yechuri and S Ramachandran Pillai had reported the PB decision to the state secretariat.

The list of ministerial nominees to be considered by the state committee included senior leader Paloli Muhammadkutty, CITU leader P K Gurudasan, CPI-M deputy leader in the previous assembly Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, former Rajya Sabha member M A Baby, Thomas Isaac and P K Sreemathy.
