Pravin to urges court to undergo psychiatric tests Tuesday, May 16 2006 16:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Pravin Mahajan, held on the charge of murdering his elder brother and BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan, would urge a local court tomorrow to allow him undergo psychiatric tests, his lawyer Nandkumar Rajurkar said here today (May 16, 2006).
This would be fourth time he would seek permission to undergo psychiatric tests. Earlier, the court has rejected his plea thrice, Rajurkar told sources here today.
He said it was necessary for Pravin to undergo these tests to know his state of mind and under what circumstances he had shot at his brother on April 22.
The lawyer also said that Pravin would also urge the court to return his car seized by Worli police.
Earlier, the court has rejected his plea to return the car to his family saying investigations were underway.
Pravin had pleaded that the car was not used in the crime and hence it may be returned to his family. However, police objected saying that investigations were going on and
it would not be proper to return the car to him at this juncture.
Pravin would be produced before the court tomorrow as his judicial remand is getting over and police might ask for extension of his custody.
However, Pravin's lawyer said he would not seek bail for Pravin tomorrow. The first priority would be to seek the court's permission for Pravin to undergo psychiatric tests, he
said.
