Allegations against Mohta have not been 'proved'
Friday, May 19 2006 14:46 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Perturbed over references to senior IFS office Madhup Mohta in a case of human trafficking being investigated by CBI, the External Affairs Ministry has said the allegations against him have not been 'substantiated'

"Repeated references to the officer's alleged misdemeanors are neither fair nor warranted," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said on media reports about the allegations against Mohta when he was Deputy Director General in the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.

Mohta, a 1985-batch IFS officer, is at present Director of Foreign Service Institute.

"The Ministry of External Affairs wishes to clarify that these allegations against the office have not been substantiated," he said.
