Police invokes MCOCA against 11 LeT operatives
Wednesday, May 24 2006 14:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Mumbai police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the eleven suspected Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, arrested in the Aurangabad arms and explosives seizure case.

"We have invoked MCOCA against the LeT suspects and will produce them in the court this afternoon," Anti-Terrorist Squad chief K P Raghuvanshi told sources here today.

"The LeT suspects were currently booked under Indian Explosives Act and invoking MCOCA would allow the ATS to seek police custody remand for a longer period as well as book more persons involved in the case," he said.

The ATS seized 16 AK-47, 43 kg RDX, 4000 ammunition rounds and 50 hand granades.
