Hurriyat demands probe into attack on tourists
Friday, May 26 2006 17:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Srinagar: The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference today (May 26, 2006) condemned the killing of four tourists from Gujarat in a grenade attack here and demanded a judicial probe into the incident.

"We demand a judicial probe into yesterday's incident and identification of persons who want to malign the image of Kashmiris," Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid today.

He said Kashmiris have always respected and welcomed tourists. It has been age-old tradition of Kashmiris to welcome the visitors. We never cause any harm to the tourists.

Four persons from Gujarat, including three children, were killed and six others injured when a tourist bus was ripped apart by a grenade explosion at Batapora-Zakoora, 12 kms from here, last evening.
