The state family welfare department is contemplating the commissioning of three new urban health centers for the Warangal city in the coming days. The commissioning, to be covered under the urban slums health project would help the slums get the basic health care facilities.
The proposed centers would come up in addition to the existing nine centers and a hospital would also be opened in the backward regions of the triple town. According to the joint director of state family welfare wing Dr.Pattabhiramaiah, the urban health centers would take up the welfare schemes from the ground level and the teams would initiate health care measures in the slum areas.
District Medical and health officer Dr.Prasad Rao said the new proposal would enable improving the slum health care facilities and it would help containing the spurt of contagious diseases in the slums.
He said the new urban health centers proposed by the department would be commissioned in the Scheduled Caste habitations covering Rangasaipet, Santhoshi matha temple area and Waddepalli limits respectively.
The new 30 bedded hospital of urban health scheme would be opened at Karimabad urban health center, Municipal health officer Dr.Harinath said. Regarding the new health centers the official said the municipal corporation would entrust these centers to NGOs.
