President condemns bid to attack RSS headquarters

New Delhi: Strongly condemning the militants' bid to strike at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, President A P J Abdul Kalam today (June 2, 2006) said the nation has to unitedly fight terrorism.

"Such attacks are condemnable outright and the nation has to fight the menace of terriorism unitedly," he said.

The President complimented the Maharashtra police for their prompt and timely action in thwarting the designs of militants. Kalam wished the injured policemen a speedy recovery, President's press secretary S M Khan said here.

Three heavily-armed suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were shot dead in an encounter with the police while trying to enter the heavily-guarded RSS headquarters in Nagpur early yesterday.
