BJP today (June 6, 2006) announced it would hold nationwide demonstrations and transport blockades tomorrow (June 7, 2006) to protest against increase in fuel prices.
Party Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that all district and state units of the party have been asked to hold street demonstrations, sit-ins and road and rail blockades for one day to protest the fuel price hikes.
"Backed by the Left, the UPA Government has converted its Common Minimum Programme into common mehangai programme. We will protest it strongly across the country tomorrow, blocking rail and road traffic and holding massive demonstrations," he
said.
The main Opposition party's move comes in the wake of government increasing petrol prices by Rs four a litre and diesel prices by Rs two a litre.
