'Reservation is vote bank politics, to divide Hindus'
Thursday, June 8 2006 10:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Nagpur: The RSS tonight attacked the Centre's policy on reservation saying it is nothing but vote bank politics aimed dividing the Hindu society.

"It is nothing but vote bank politics and to retain power. Similar attempts were made in 1981 and 1994", RSS chief K S Sudarshan said while addressing participants at the end of RSS volunteers third year training camp at Reshimbagh ground.

"The entire nation will be ruined by the uncalled for flames and fire of reservation," he said adding the country will have to pay the price in long run. The dignity and self respect of Hindus was at stake.

"It will affect the efficiency of the talented people in the country," the RSS chief said and questioned the wisdom of reservation.

Sudarshan said the creamy layer among the sections of society which has availed the benefits of reservation should desist from further taking the benefits of quota system.

"Will Ramvilas Paswan and those holding high posts in the government politely decline the benefits after availing all the benefits and reaching the creamy layer section?" he said.

Citing example without specific references, Sudarshan said a section of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes have opposed the proposed reservation.

"Our talents are undermined and are accused of taking the benefits of quota", he said quoting them.
