10 killed, 20 hurt in car bomb in Iraq oil city Tuesday, June 13 2006 13:01 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Baghdad:
At least 10 people were killed and 20 others wounded today (June 13, 2006) in a car bomb attack at a popular market in the northern oil city of Kirkuk, police said.
The explosion occurred at around 0900 IST (7:30 am) in the city's Tisaeen market in an area largely inhabited by Shiite members of the city's Turkmen community.
A centre of oil production and home to a complex ethnic and sectarian mosaic of people, Kirkuk has been largely spared the large car bombs that have bedeviled cities like Mosul and Baghdad.
There is a steady toll of drive by shootings and roadside bombs, however, especially in the restive, primarily Sunni Arab, western part of the province.
