Jaipur: A Jodhpur court today (June 26, 2006) issued a show-cause notice on Bollywood star Salman Khan for allegedly misleading it while making a statement on oath regarding the license of his weapon in connection with the poaching cases against him.



Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit, hearing the case of illegal possession of weapons by the actor, directed him to file a reply on July 10.



The directive came after the prosecution told the court that Salman had earlier stated before it that his firearms license was 'misplaced' whereas it was lying with the Mumbai police.

The court has also allowed the prosecution plea filed on June 19 for placing 26 new documents on record against the actor relating to the Arms Act. These were taken on record today, Hastimal Saraswat, Khan's counsel, told sources.

The court, however, said allowing the application did not mean that the evidential value of the documents would be taken as proved.

The prosecution also filed an application to amend the charges against Salman.

The court had framed charges against the actor for illegal possession of weapons on October 1 and 2, 1998 but the prosecution today urged that Salman must be charged for possessing illegal weapons also from August 28 to September 3, 1998.

It will issue an order on this application on July 3.

The court earlier this year convicted and sentenced Salman in two cases relating to hunting black bucks and chinkaras (species of gazelle) in Bhavad village and Ghoda farms in Jodhpur district in September-October 1998.

A case in connection with the killing of two black bucks in Kankani village of the district on the night of October 1, 1998 is pending against the actor.
