CPI expresses its concern over the state of AIIMS Friday, July 7 2006 18:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Hyderabad:
Expressing concern over the state of affairs at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the CPI today (July 7, 2006) said Government must seek an amicable solution to ensure that medical facilities continued without disruption at the country's premier medical institute.
"It is true that many events have led up to these unfortunate developments, but it should have been dealt with in a more prudent manner," the party said in a resolution
moved at the National Council meeting which began here today.
"We urge the Government to seek an amicable solution so that undoubted talents of all concerned are utilised and health and medical facilities continue without disruptions,"
CPI spokesman Shameem Faizee told journalists here.
"A resolution opposing disinvestment of profit-making public sector units was also tabled during the meeting which congratulated the workers of NALCO and Neyveli Lignite
Corporation for their struggle in forcing the government to put on hold all disinvestment proposals," he said.
"Putting on hold the disinvestment is not the solution as it was agreed in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) that there would be no move to disinvest profit-making PSUs. This is a clear deviation from the CMP and we will fight it out," he said.
Another resolution on the Palestine question was placed in the National Council which condemned the aggression of the Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip and called upon all party
units to express solidarity with the Palestinians.
All the resolutions, including the political ones, will be discussed and adopted.
