Friday, July 7 2006 12:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: Mining activity and power generation at the public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation is slowly returning to normal with workers reporting for duty since last night calling off their indefinite strike protesting the Centre's decision to divest 10 per cent of equity in NLC.

The workers withdrew the stir following Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's decision to put on hold the disinvestment of NLC and other Public Sector Units (PSUs).

Total normalcy was expected to be restored by this evening as it would take another 10 hours for generation to reach its full capacity of 2490 MW, NLC sources said.

"The NLC suffered a loss of about Rs 20 crore due to thet hree days' strike," PSU's Chief General Manager P Babu Rao told sources.

The attendance was normal, NLC sources said.
