Mumbai blasts will not to affect business: Infosys Wednesday, July 12 2006 18:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Infosys Technologies Ltd today (July 12, 2006) ruled out any impact on its business or on the Indian economy following the serial blasts in Mumbai yesterday (July 11, 2006).
"I don't think the blasts will have any impact on our business. It is, no doubt, a shameful tragedy. Totally sad. I don't think the innocent people of Mumbai deserve anything of this type," Infosys CEO Nandan M. Nilekani told reporters here.
"It is clearly a bad act. But it will not have any impact on the Indian economy," he said.
Terming terrorism as a global phenomenon, Nilekani lamented its tentacles spreading in many countries across the world.
"We have seen terrorism in New York, London, Madrid and other cities from time to time. But I think the resilience, the courage and dynamism with which Mumbai has come back today shows the enormous strength and fortitude of its people," Nilekani affirmed.
The Indian economic story and its fundamentals will continue to grow, the CEO said.
Besides Nilekani, the top brass of India's second largest IT bellwether condemned the Mumbai blasts, which claimed over 180 lives and injured more than 460 people.
