Pakistan harps on Kashmir and Mumbai serial blasts Wednesday, July 12 2006 17:55 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Islamabad:
Even as it condemned the Mumbai train blasts, Pakistan again harped on the need to resolve the Kashmir dispute, saying this was the only way for India to overcome terrorism.
Tuesday's Mumbai blasts and other recent bombings in India and Pakistan show that 'anything can go wrong anywhere' in both countries and escalate into trouble, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri said in the US.
Kasuri said the failure to resolve their disputes enabled "negative forces in both countries to blame the other country.
"I think the Mumbai incident however tragic it may be and it is undoubtedly very tragic underlines the need for the two countries to work together to control this environment. But they can only do so if they resolve their disputes," he said.
President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz yesterday (July 12, 2006)condemned the Mumbai train explosions that killed around 150 people.
The Foreign Office said Wednesday, "This despicable act of terrorism has resulted in the loss of a large number of precious lives.
"Terrorism is a bane of our times and it must be condemned, rejected and countered effectively and comprehensively," he said.
