PM meets President, discusses security situation
Thursday, July 13 2006 18:06 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: In the wake of serial blasts in Mumbai and Kashmir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today met President A P J Abdul Kalam here and discussed the security situation in the country.

During the 30-minute meeting, the Prime Minister is understood to have apprised Kalam about the steps being taken by the government in view of the deadly terror attacks on Tuesday that claimed lives of over 200 people and injured hundreds more.

"They discussed the security situation in the country," a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said.

The government has alerted all states, asking them to increase vigilance in the aftermath of the blasts as intelligence inputs suggest that there may be more terror strikes.

Security at airports, religious places, defence and other sensitive establishments, particularly, has been stepped up to thwart any misadventure by the terrorists.
