US House of Rep. condemns terror Mumbai blasts Friday, July 14 2006 10:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Condemning as 'heinous and unjustified' the terror attacks in Mumbai, a resolution introduced in the US House of Representatives has said the strikes were conducted to 'cause economic terror' and pledged to strengthen and support the newly-expanded relationship with India.
The resolution introduced by Congressmen Joseph Crowley and Joe Wilson condemned the 'heinous and unjustified attacks' and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
The House Resolution 911 yesterday spoke of the coordinated terrorist attacks at the height of rush hour conducted to 'maximise the death toll' and the determination of the terrorists to attack the financial capital of India to 'cause economic terror'.
The Resolution had the House expressing its deepest condolences to the people of India and the victims and their families for the terrorist attacks and condemning these heinous and unjustified attacks on the people of Mumbai.
It expressed the resolve of the US to strengthen and support the newly expanded relationship with India, a friend and democratic ally of the United States.
The House Resolution has also called on the international community to renew and strengthen efforts on three fronts: combat the social injustice, oppression, poverty, and extremism that breeds terrorism; defeat terrorists in all countries by defeating the ideology and the networks of terrorists that train and carry out attacks; and increase international cooperation to advance human rights.
The Resolution has been referred to the House International Relations Committee.
