Mumbai: Police have beefed up security at public places and vital installations, including places of worship, across Maharashtra in the wake of serial blasts in commuter trains on July 11, officials said today (July 20, 2006).

Security was tightened at Siddhivinayak temple, Mahalaxmi temple and Haji Ali, while police continued to guard shrines elsewhere in the state, they added.

Policemen have been deployed at all the railway stations, the officials said adding that a strict vigil was being kept at the city's entry points.
